NEAL TROTMAN was quick to claim the goal which sealed Town’s 2-0 win at Hartlepool and urged his teammates: “Now let’s kick on at Tranmere.”

While fans are already looking towards the big Galpharm derby with Leeds on Saturday, Town boss Lee Clark, whose side are back in the League I play-off zone, is thinking only about tomorrow’s Prenton Park clash.

And on-loan Preston centre-back Trotman agreed: “That’s the priority, and we have to be properly prepared.”

The 22-year-old was on hand to nod home in the 66th minute after Lee Novak’s looping header hit the underside of the bar and bounced back out.

The Geordie frontman claimed what would have been a 10th Town goal, but Trotman insisted: “It was 100% mine.

“Lee’s header was a good one, but it hit a defender, then the bar, then came back out. He’s an honest guy, and if he’s got anything about him, he’ll agree with me!”

Jordan Rhodes, brought down for the penalty from which Gary Roberts gave Town a 15th-minute lead, chipped in: “Loyalty says I should really be supporting my frontline partner, but from what the referee said, Lee’s header didn’t cross the line.”

It all points to a 10th career goal for Trotman and a first in six Town appearances.
