Huddersfield Town fans believe quality additions are needed to the squad this summer for David Wagner to push the club forward.

The 4-0 defeat at Bristol City hurt the supporters, and the general belief is key signings are needed to ensure Town are competitive in 2016-17.

The head coach has already brought in Rajiv van La Parra, Michael Hefele and Chris Loewe, and fans believe it’s essential to continue re-shaping the squad.

Joe, from Marsh, explained: “This performance just highlighted the inconsistency shown by this squad since January.

“It lacks creativity and pace in midfield – and quality in attack, excluding Nahki Wells.

“David Wagner has a big pre-season ahead of him if he is to take Town forward.”

Dec, in Meltham, agrees.

“What happened to ‘we want to finish the season unbeaten’ and ‘we are going there for 3 points’?

“To finish mid-table next season we need at least another three players to add to the ones already signed. Right-back essential.”

Dave, based in Holmfirth, urged realism.

“Yes a poor performance, and one that rightly deserves criticism, but don’t Town fans go over the top?

“They need a reality check. We have lots to do to be a mid-table side, as next season will tell, but under Wagner and with two or three more additions, we may have a chance.

“But have no doubt, next season will be tougher.”

Tony Summersgill is still seething about the display at Ashton Gate.

He said: “First 30 minutes pretty good, but not clinical up front.

“Rest of the game terrible, no running off the ball, no pressing on their players.

“Long drive to see such a poor performance.”

Honley-based Jo thought Joel Lynch was the only player to emerge with any credit, while Michael in Pontefract reckoned the cost of travelling had been “£130 down the drain.”

Fellow fan Shaun added: “Terrible, terrible!

“Worst performance I have seen in a while. We played like Villa.

“We need to pick ourselves up for next season, or we are in trouble.”
