HUDDERSFIELD Town has today appointed Neil Fitzhenry as a physio in the First Team’s Medical Department.

The 33 year-old will work under the Head of the First Team Medical Department James Haycock and with Club Masseur Chris Senior as the Club continues to restructure and improve its Technical Support teams.

A defender for Wigan Athletic, Irish side Finn Harps, Leigh RMI, Workington and Southport during his playing days, Neil returned to University to complete his medical qualifications after hanging up his boots and has since worked on the medical departments at Wigan Athletic and more recently Premiership Rugby Union side Northampton Saints.

“I think this Club is going places; everyone here is ambitious and wants to keep moving forward. It will be exciting to be a part of that,” Neil told htafc.com.

“I’m really looking forward to working with James and Chris. We’re all relatively new to the Club, but we’re all keen and have similar ideas about the medical side of things and where we need to progress. We almost have a clean slate to develop the department in the manner that we feel is the best going forward.”

Part of Neil’s role will see him on the sidelines in the new Under-21 Development League games, which start on Wednesday with a 12pm kick-off against Crewe Alexandra at Canalside Sports Complex.

“I worked with the Development Squad at Wigan and I’ll work with our young players here too –I’m very excited about things.”
