AFC Emley have signed Brighouse Town centre-back Adam Wilson.

It’s another boost as the Huddersfield club plot a Northern Counties East League First Division promotion bid.

Boss Darren Hepworth has already secured the services of prolific striker Ashley Flynn for a further season.

And versatile Aaron Joseph has returned to Emley to bolster a side which will be skippered by Kieran Ryan .

Joseph, now playing in midfield, spent more than a year with Emley after joining them from the now defunct Bay Athletic in 2012.

He left for Shaw Lane Aquaforce in December 2013 and has spent the last two seasons at Pontefract Collieries.

Signing Joseph has helped fill the void created by the return of Michael Tunnacliffe to Hepworth United.

Tunnacliffe was skipper as Emley lost out to Bottesford Town on penalties in the NCEL First Division play-offs in April.

Wilson, nicknamed Sarge, has picked up valuable experience playing Northern Premier League football for Brighouse.

Hepworth said: “Sarge is a true leader and his experience really bolsters our backline.

“He’s been a player I’ve admired for quite some time and I’m delighted he’s up for the challenge at Emley.

“Signings like this really put down a marker.”

Emley have fixed up a home friendly against Frickley Athletic on Thursday, July 28 (7.45).
