TOWN have won themselves some new fans in Bridlington.

Home supporters might have had to endure a 6-1 mauling for their side in Saturday’s friendly.

But according to Brid fanatic Roger Bampton, the Queensgate faithful still enjoyed the afternoon.

“We were very pleased with the fact that Huddersfield sent over a strong squad,” said Bampton, who was in a crowd of 684.

“We’ve played league sides in the past, and you’ve struggled to recognise any of the players because they been reserves or even younger lads.

“It was good to see the likes of Luke Beckett and Danny Schofield, and the way the (manager) Andy Ritchie (right) and his players conducted themselves was a credit to the club.

“They were only too happy to chat to supporters and sign autographs, and as a result, we’ll be hoping Huddersfield have a really good season.”
