Huddersfield Town will tackle Brentford without 18-goal top scorer Nahki Wells.

A knee injury will keep the Bermudian ace out of the final match of the Championship campaign.

It means the 25-year-old club-record £1.3m signing will miss out on the chance to reach his 20-goal target.

Head coach David Wagner says Harry Bunn, Karim Matmour and Rajiv van La Parra are all candidates for the frontline berth.

The head coach could even alter his normal 4-2-3-1 formation.

Wells has been a mainstay this season, making 47 appearances, more than any other Town player.

But he’s been playing through the pain barrier for the last month.

“Previously Nahki and the medical staff were able to manage the injury,” explained Wagner.

“But it has now become worse and there is no point in taking a risk.

“I am confident that with the rest Nahki can now take, it will clear up by pre-season.”
