NON-LEAGUE football is mourning the death of Peter Maude.
The respected administrator – one of the driving forces behind Emley’s rise up the football pyramid and the current president of Wakefield FC – has passed away in Spain.
Also a cricketer at Emley, he was a permanent fixture at the Welfare Ground at one stage – he is pictured at the venue – and was a guiding light when the club went to Wembley in the FA Vase.
He was a former chairman of the Unibond League and remained a management committee member.
The League’s current chairman, Mark Harris said: “It is with great sadness that I have to announce our ex-chairman, friend and colleague Peter Maude has passed away while in Spain.
“I do not have any further at this stage, other than Peter’s daughter has the unenviable task of travelling to Spain to bring her father’s body back.
“I am sure our thoughts will be with her and the family at this time.”
The Unibond will ask all clubs in respect to observe a minute’s silence before matches this weekend.
