TOWN beware, Grant Holt is chasing a century – twice over.

Norwich City’s captain and top scorer needs just three more goals to reach 100 in league football in a career which has also taken in spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Rochdale, Forest and Shrewsbury.

And the 28-year-old Cumbrian, who plied his trade with the likes of Workington, Barrow and Halifax before breaking into full-time football after a stint in Singapore, believes the League I leaders can break their own club record of 99 in 1956-57 by reaching three figures this time around.

With 11 games to go, starting at the Galpharm tomorrow, they have 73. Holt has grabbed 20 of them, and in all competitions, the close-season capture can boast 26.

He and teammates Chris Martin and Wes Hoolahan, the former Blackpool man, have notched 60 between them. Holt said: “It’s a tribute to the whole team, and now we want to keep going.

“If we keep playing the way we can, there’s a good chance we can get to 100 in the league.

“When we’re on our game, we’re really on it.”

Right-back Russell Martin reckons Norwich’s 3-0 home win over Yeovil Town last Saturday was a sign they are back on top form.

Martin said: “We’ve kept nice and solid, playing the expansive football that we can, so it’s nice to get a clean sheet and score a few goals.”

Norwich supporters are certainly getting behind their side, with more than 18,500 having already renewed their season-tickets for 2010-11.
