Chris Powell has emerged as a contender for the Huddersfield Town managerial vacancy, according to bookmakers.

The 44-year-old Londoner spent three years in charge of Charlton Athletic before being sacked in March following a takeover of the club.

Powell previously worked as a coach at Leicester, where he finished his playing career.

The former defender also turned out for Crystal Palace, Southend United, Derby County, Charlton, West Ham and Watford.

He is also a former chairman of the Professional Footballers’ Association.

BetVictor have him at 8/1 for the Town job and Betfair 9/1.

Coventry City manager Steven Pressley remains the favourite.
