Anthony Gerrard netted with a free-kick from inside his own half as Huddersfield Town Under 21s sealed a second successive Professional Development League win.

Danny Carr grabbed the other goal in the 2-0 defeat of Millwall at PPG Canalside which followed a 4-1 win at Ipswich Town.

It was a third Under 21s run-out as an overage player for Gerrard, who suffered a calf injury during pre-season.

There was no appearance for striker Martin Paterson, whose recovery from a knee problem was indicated by his inclusion as ‘19th man’ for Saturday’s Championship clash with Millwall, which Town won 2-1.

Carr scored with an eight-minute header, while Gerrard’s goal came in the 76th minute.

Frankie Bunn’s charges now have three wins from five this season.
