HUDDERSFIELD TOWN have had some top right midfielders over the years, and that was certainly the case in the 1980s.

But who was the best of the crop?

That’s part of the debate as all season we’re looking for your help to pick the best Town teams from each of the last five decades.

Each select side is divided into goalkeeper, right-back, left-back, centre-backs, left midfield, right midfield, central midfielders and strikers.

Every week we’ll give you a list of players to choose from for a specific position.

At the moment, we’re making our pick of the 1980s, with right midfielders next to be put forward.

There are six to pick from – Brian Stanton, Mick Laverick, Terry Curran, Julian Winter, Mark Barham and Mark Lillis.

Choose just one from the list who you felt was best and make your vote.

To vote go to www.examiner.co.uk/yoursay

Just place your choice and we’ll tell you who claimed the right midfielder slot in next week’s Final Whistle.

There’s also a panel for comments, so tell us your memories of your choice.

Last week we asked you to choose the best centre-backs of the 1980s.

Top of the poll was Paul Jones (inset), with his namesake Joey chosen as partner.

Paul had 34% of the vote and Joey 20%.

One fan said of Paul: “He was classy and had so much time.”

Another said: “Paul Jones was simply the best defender I have ever seen play for Town.”

On Joey, one added: “Nothing went past Joey – not with the ball anyway!”
