DANIEL BENNETT is hoping to watch dad Ian turn out for Town on Saturday – and one of them is sure to be a Wembley winner!

For the sports-mad 14-year-old is a keen supporter of Town’s League I play-off final opponents Sheffield United.

Dave Bennett – Ian’s dad and Daniel’s grandfather – is keeping his fingers crossed that Town’s former Blades stopper beats a hand injury picked up during the semi-final second leg against MK Dons, and is ready to act as a peacemaker.

“Daniel was getting interested in football during the time Ian was at Sheffield United (2006-10),” explained Dave, who has followed his 40-year-old son’s career closely.

“In addition, we’re from Worksop, where there are a lot of Sheffield United fans, so they became Daniel’s team.

“We often come to watch Ian at the Galpharm, but if Town are playing away and United are at home, we’ll go to Bramall Lane.”

Ian’s 13-year-old daughter Elizabeth will also be at Wembley, where Ian played for Birmingham back in 1995, and Dave smiled: “Someone is going to be very happy, someone very unhappy and I’ll be stuck in the middle!”
