ROB EDWARDS belongs to a select band of players who have had two separate playing spells at Town.

Of course his current teammate Andy Booth, who joined Sheffield Wednesday in the 1996 close-season and came back in March 2001, is among them.

Also among the ranks are full-back Mally Brown, centre-back Roy Ellam and striker Bobby Campbell.

Ellam's first spell at Town was between January 1966, when he was signed from Bradford City, and the summer of 1972, when he followed Trevor Cherry down the road to Leeds.

Having helped Town win the original Division II title in 1970, he made a handful of appearances as Leeds won the championship in 1974.

He returned to Town in the aftermath of that success, only for the Terriers to suffer relegation to the basement division in 1975.

Brown was a mainstay of the side which got Town back out five years later.

As dependable a defender as Ellam, he was recruited from Bury in the summer of 1977 and spent six years at Leeds Road before heading to Newcastle.

His St James' Park stint was hampered by injury, and he came back to Town in the 1985 close-season and stayed until a switch to Rochdale in February 1989.

Rugged striker Campbell first joined Town from Aston Villa in the summer of 1975.

The Irishman headed off to Sheffield United two years later but was back in blue and white stripes for two months early in the 1978-79 season before a switch to neighbours Halifax.

Old boys who have come back on loan are Mick Laverick, Peter Butler, Iffy Onuora and Delroy Facey.
