IT’S claimed Huddersfield Town are among the Championship clubs to have lost out on signing Jamie Murphy, the Motherwell striker who has just joined Sheffield United.
Hull and Burnley are also said to have been tracking the 23-year-old, who has signed a three-and-a-half year deal at Bramall Lane after a £100,000 switch.
Murphy, who has scored 11 goals this season, says Motherwell manager Stuart McCall sang the praises of Sheffield United, where he was assistant boss.
“I had been aware for a few weeks that Sheffield United were watching me and as soon as I spoke to (manager) Danny Wilson they were always my first choice,” said Murphy.
“He really sold the club to me when I came down for my medical. But I had already heard so many good things about the club from Stuart McCall.”
