Huddersfield Town defender Danny Kane has been named in the Republic of Ireland Under 19 squad.

The 18-year-old centre back has been selected for two upcoming friendlies against Ukraine.

Kane, who joined Town’s Academy from Irish club Cherry Orchard in 2013, is in the running to play in the friendlies that will take place in Limerick on October 10 and 12.

These friendlies are in preparation for Ireland’s 2016 UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying campaign which begins in November – the Irish are in Group A and face Scotland, Slovenia and Latvia.

Kane made his debut at Under 19 level for his country in an international friendly against Italy.

Development Squad midfielder Ben Holmes has returned to Town at the end of his loan spell at AFC Fylde.

The 19-year-old joined the Vanarama National League North club at the end of August on a month loan and made three starts and two substitute appearances, scoring once in his final appearance on Tuesday in a 5-2 win over Radcliffe Borough.
