DANNY CADAMARTERI is eyeing Saturday’s League I trip to Northampton after being given the go-ahead to play for Town Reserves tomorrow night.

The 27-year-old striker, pictured, has yet to play a competitive game for the club after suffering a hamstring injury on the eve of the season.

But he returned to full training last Thursday and is pencilled in for the Pontin’s Holidays League clash with Wolves at the Galpharm (7.00).

If he comes through without problems, Andy Ritchie could pitch him straight into action at Sixfields.

Even to have him in the 16 would be a plus as the boss tries to freshen things up in the wake of three successive defeats.

In the last two, at Crewe and at home to Cheltenham, Ritchie’s side have struggled to put away the many chances created and now have a goal difference of minus two.

“Both our defending and attacking need to be better,” accepted Ritchie, whose side will fall from ninth to 10th unless tonight’s Cheltenham versus Swansea game ends in a draw.

“Having Cads available will bring a quality striker into the frame and add to competition for places.

“We’ve all had to be patient, but this kind of injury can’t be rushed.

“We’ve nursed him back and hopefully he’ll show tomorrow that he’s ready to figure in the first team.”
