What did you make of Huddersfield Town's performance in the abject 1-0 defeat at home to Birmingham City?

The Terriers fell to a second successive league setback after David Cotterill netted a second-half winner as Chris Powell's side failed to recover from the damaging 5-0 loss at Norwich City last time out.

Grant Holt squandered the best opportunity in the opening period by firing straight at Birmingham goalkeeper Darren Randolph before Cotterill made the Terriers pay with a free-kick that deceived Town shot-stopper Alex Smithies.

We collated your ratings from our player ratings scale below to see what you made of each performer as Powell's charges suffered another disappointing reverse.

Also take a look above in our gallery to compare your ratings with ours, provided by online sports content writer Tom Marshall-Bailey.

And see our chart below to assess who you voted as the best and the worst performers from the game as well as reaction from supporters as Town fell to just two places and five points above 22nd-placed Brighton and Hove Albion.

Dreadful.....no drive, energy, tempo and a massive disappointment against a bang average Birmingham team.John, Meltham.

Wrong formation again. We need to have two strikers and two wingers at home. Otherwise it looks negative, are we frightened to lose? The manager has got it wrong the last few games. We need Joe Murphy in goal, Alex Smithies is having a very poor season. Hard to stay positive at the moment. Arthur, Huddersfield.

Awful. Tactics rubbish. Manager's fault without doubt. Time for Holt to go back. Was good but not now. Really bored. Paid for Rotherham tickets. Must be better. Powell talked about a fast start. He must have been discussing something different! Nothing has changed since three seasons ago. Still struggling. Trevor, Horbury.

Most assists (Tommy Smith) and leading goal scorer (Nahki Wells) not in the starting line up against a defensive Birmingham side who came for a point? William, Huddersfield.

I am not really surprised with the result. Going 4-5-1 at home to a poor side just reflects Chris Powell as a manager. No real idea on what to do. Go defensive, like he did at Charlton. The bubble has burst and we are back to square one, struggling in this division. Grant Holt is a battering ram and no more. 2 goals is not a good return. We need a striker who can also score. What next for Dean Hoyle, new players or another new manager? Stephen, Puerto Santiago.

Absolute garbage due to stupid team selection.Stuart, Birstall.

The game was boring, we missed Smith's runs down the wing linking up with Scannell.Jack, Huddersfield.

No heart, no fight, a totally inept performance, Powell's line-up was a disgrace at home, he is not using the players he should be, it looks like 2015 will be spent fighting the big drop. David, Wyke.

Should have played 4-4-2 at home. Lacklustre all across the team. Poor.Mags, Mirfield.

Very poor showing. Not as committed as the opposition, they wanted to win much more than Town and showed it.Phil, Mirfield.

Lack of invention, too many stray passes and got to play two strikers at home. Time to start Vaughan and Wells together, the three subs should have been brought on as soon as they scored.Antony, Honley.

We just didn't turn up today. No creativity, no desire and no threat whatsoever up front. Substitutions (all three of them!) should have been made at half time, not 15 minutes from the end at 1-0 down. No idea how any professional keeper could have made the error Smithies did with free kick - unforgivable. Really worrying times. James, Leeds.

Boring game to say the least - had 0-0 written all over it until Cotterill broke the deadlock with that stunner of a free-kick. Our players barely showed any passion throughout the afternoon, which is clearly unacceptable at this level. We must bounce back on Boxing Day - and in convincing style - or we risk getting pulled into a battle for survival.Chris, Dalton.

What have they been doing all week? Poor passing, poor corners, poor free kicks - all the basics poor. For me they were as bad as the Bournemouth game today. You could have picked 11 from the crowd to beat a very poor Birmingham side. Jack, Wooldale.

So, end-of-year story, ability in squad great, application nil, getting very browned off with spending good money home and away. How can the manager think that a draw would be ok? Two best results against Nottingham Forest and Brentford playing two up front? Gerrard and all back four ok. Let's go to Rotherham and at last give something to the supporters who have sold out again! Terry, Fenay Bridge.

You'd have thought that the players would have been well up for this game after last week's debacle, this could not be further from the truth! No passion, desire, commitment, heart or fight, these are club values that were clearly missing today. Too defensive for a home game and the subs were too late to make any impact. The only player to leave that pitch today with his head up was Hogg, if only others put the effort in that this lad does every game, poor poor show Mr Powell, earn your brass and sort it out!Kev, Lindley.

Once again, with nothing to lose, why did Powell go with Holt as a lone striker? Should have started with Vaughan and what's happened to Butterfield and the out-of-sorts Coady? Maybe playing every game is taking its toll on him. Can't blame Gerrard but Smithies should take a look at his form at the moment, not good enough. The January transfer window beckons, time to do some wheeling and dealing before we continue to slide. In Powell we have confidence or do we?Derek, Linthwaite.

Like an Italian tank - one forward gear, six reverse. Players not worthy of the Town shirt. One up front at home - were we playing for a draw? Birmingham were there for the taking, subs on too late. Inept from all concerned. Mike, Shelley.

Think I must be the only one that thinks Smithies is weak. Positioning, distribution and lack of awareness. When I saw the team that Powell picked my stomach sank. Wasn't wrong. After Norwich still rubbish. Start Wells and Lolley with Hammill in place of an unfit Bunn. Holt is an also ran. Lastly have this lot ever trained together and when is Powell going to know what he wants? Richard, Kirkburton.

Abysmal to say the least. Butterfield was not at the races and his body language said it all. Why didn't we start with 2 strikers because from what I saw we weren't playing 4-3-3, more like 4-5-1? No support from midfield and too slow to the lone striker and it looked as if we were determined not to lose so we sat too deep and paid for it. Think Smithies could have done better with the free kick. This has to improve but I still have faith in the manager. David, Huddersfield.
