Huddersfield Town's defence and midfield are the areas that require most attention ahead of the 2014/15 season, according to fans who voted in our poll.

Interestingly, midfield actually ranks as the second strongest category but also the second weakest, illustrating a divide between supporters on the current options available to Mark Robins in the middle of the park.

But Town fans were in no doubt that the defence needs amendments before the new campaign gets going, ranking it by far the weakest of the four categories.

In sharp contrast, Town fans have been left impressed by the numbers between the posts and voted goalkeepers as their strongest category, while just 1% of fans chose it as their weakest.

The general outlook is a positive one and, given the club are hoping on adding "one or two more arrivals", Town fans' take on each area of the squad may yet be altered.

Check out our charts below to see how you voted:

Strongest area of Huddersfield Town's squad

Goalkeepers (53%) - The addition of Joe Murphy has left Town fans in no doubt that they possess a wealth of options in goal. Murphy will most probably play back-up to Alex Smithies but will increase the competition while youngsters Ed Wilczynski and Lloyd Allinson will also hope to press their claims.

Defence (7%) - Despite drafting in utility defender Lee Peltier, Town fans still believe further signings must be made for Town's defence to be ready for the new season. Peter Clarke and Calum Woods' respective departures leave the Terriers slightly light on bodies at the back.

Midfield (22%) - The triumvirate of Oliver Norwood, Jonathan Hogg and Adam Clayton is ranked as the second best area of Town's squad and, with the latter working from the front, it does look strong. Injuries would severely hamper Town here though.

Strikers (18%) - The strikers are possibly in need of a slight freshening up and Town's pursuit of a target man type for the forward positions is no surprise. Town need to identify a different option to James Vaughan and Nahki Wells.

Weakest area of Huddersfield Town's squad

Goalkeepers (1%) - Town fans are clear in their assessment of the goalkeeping ranks and Murphy's arrival means this section of the team is settled.

Defence (54%) - Running in tandem with their standing as the fourth best (or last placed) for the strongest section, supporters equally believe the defence is Town's primary weakness.

Midfield (27%) - Interestingly, the only areas that don't follow the same pattern as the strongest category are midfield and strikers. Some Town fans clearly believe the exit of Keith Southern, coupled with the possible departures of Oscar Gobern and Sean Scannell, means the club could do with some reinforcements in the middle.

Strikers (18%) - Likewise, the strikers swap over with the midfielders and are actually ranked as the third weakest. If Vaughan can hit the ground running from the off and put a halt to his injury woes and Wells can start where he left off last term, then any new frontman may not be able to get into the side.
