HE WANTED him in Brentford and now it seems Andy Scott may want Huddersfield Town striker Robbie Simpson to join him at Rotherham United.

The former Bees boss, who took the brainy Town striker down South, has refused to rule out a deal for Simpson at new club the Millers and has confirmed colleagues are in touch with the Poole-born forward.

Scott, who has signed former Terriers man Danny Schofield for the South Yorkshire outfit, said: “He is a good player but there are a lot of factors which would determine whether it was possible or not.

“I think he would do well in our side but whether that happens or not we will have to wait and see.”

However, Scott may have a battle on his hands for maths and sports science graduate Simpson, 26, who scored eight in 18 starts for Brentford.

The Examiner reported earlier this week that Oldham Athletic are also interested in securing the front man.

Scott, who joined Rotherham in April, added: “I have spoken to Lee (Clark) over the summer about several things. At this stage of the season, you are always going to be linked with different people.

“I would not rule it (a deal for Simpson) out but it is not something I have actively pursued.”
