SEAN SCANNELL scored his first Town goal to clinch a welcome home win.

The former Crystal Palace man made the breakthrough in the 43rd minute, steering home Lee Novak's cross.

Both sides had chances in the second half, with Calum Woods, Adam Clayton and Adam Hammill coming close for Town and  home keeper Alex Smithies saving smartly from Sam Baldock and Stephen McManus.

Town's first win in three games lifted them to seventh while Bristol City, who have now lost five on the trot, remain second-bottom.
