TOWN threw away the lead three times as they were held to a high-scoring draw in their final game before a League I play-off semi-final against Bournemouth.
Two well-taken goals by Danny Ward, driven home in the 13th and 16th minutes, looked to have put the home side in the driving seat.
But Jeff Schlupp struck either side of half-time, both his goals angled shots, to draw the Londoners level.
Substitute Lee Novak restored Town's advantage when he followed up after Ward's 52nd-minute shot was saved, only for Lewis Grabban to equalise with a low effort seven minutes later.
And after Benik Afobe shot home on the turn in the 63rd minute, Grabban forced home a 68th-minute reply from Schlupp's cross.
Town almost won it in the 89th minute, but substitute Kevin Kilbane's header was cleared off the line.
Bournemouth finished sixth after losing 2-1 at home to Rochdale.
