AFC EMLEY had a bad day at the office when they were stung 7-2 at Staveley Miners Welfare.

It was a 15th Northern Counties East League Division I defeat for Ray Dennis and Nicky Bramald's side and their heaviest of the campaign so far.

A first-half 21-minute hat trick from Marc Scott saw them take control of the game before Allan Laud got Emley off the mark from the penalty spot.

However, Scott added his fourth just before the interval to give them an unassailable 4-1 interval lead.

Four goals then came in the final 11 minutes as Liam O'Brien and Anthony Shaw (2) completed the rout for Staveley while Adam Day also found the net for the visitors.

Emley have now suffered back-to-back defeats and the dip in form leaves the side 12th in the 17-team section with 27 points from 24 games.

But they will be aiming to halt the slump on Saturday when they host Nostell MW at the Welfare Ground (3.00).
