Mark Robins has backed Town chairman Dean Hoyle’s call for supporters to take advantage of the deadline extension on first-phase season card prices.

The offer is open until 5.00 on Wednesday afternoon, with the manager pledging to freshen up his squad form push for the Championship play-offs in 2014-15.

Robins, whose side finished 17th this season after Saturday’s 4-1 win at Watford, said: “The fans’ backing is always vital, especially the way we are trying to do things.

“Our model is about becoming more self-sustaining rather than have an owner pour money down a black hole.

“The more people we can get through the door, the better, healthier and stronger the club is and the more we can do in the transfer market.

While the last part of this season was disappointing, we started well, and we will look to recruit players who will have a more sustained impact.

“The clubs coming into the division will make it tougher than ever, but it’s a challenge we relish and we are optimistic we can push on.”

Robins is also looking for a new goalkeeping coach following the departure of Paul Crichton after two seasons at Town.

Academy coach and former Town player Nick Colgan took on the duties at Watford, and Robins said: “The situation will be addressed over the next few weeks.”

Town have offered frontman Danny Ward, a hat-trick scorer at Watford, a new contract.

And they will take up options to extend the deals of centre-back Murray Wallace and keeper Ed Wilczynski.

Leaving the club are captain Peter Clarke, his fellow defender Calum Woods, keeper Ian Bennett, midfielders Keith Southern, Anton Robinson and Chris Atkinson and strikers Paul Mullin and Cristian Lopez.
