WORCESTER City could sell out their FA Cup-tie against Town by tonight.

A bumper crowd of around 2,000 was expected at St George's Lane today with remaining tickets for Town's visit being on sale.

Peter Jackson's side travel to meet the Conference North club a week tomorrow (1.05) for a second-round tie being covered live on BBC I before the big third-round draw.

Capacity is 4,500 and Worcester - who were today playing Kendal at home in the FA Trophy third qualifying round - have already bought pitch covers and had help from Sports and Stadia Services to ensure their biggest game for years beats any potential bad weather.

"We've had a fantastic response to the Huddersfield game and everything is buzzing," said Graham Hill, Worcester's busy football secretary.

"The FA have provided us with help in staging the tie and, I suppose, the only thing which could thwart us now is fog on the day.

"All things being equal, though, we are looking forward to a sell-out and a cracking match."

Town fans making the trip are advised to arrive early.

"It will be busy for parking on the side roads around St George's Lane, so the earlier people get here the better," added Mr Hill.

"Perhaps Huddersfield fans could use the Christmas park and ride facility which will be in operation from the north end of the city."

Any remaining Town tickets for the tie will go on general sale at 9.30am on Tuesday.
