SIMON GRAYSON could dip into Town’s development squad once again when he makes his selection for Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Leicester.

Under pressure to spark a knockout victory in the wake of the 4-0 Championship defeat at Watford, the boss (left) is battling a mounting injury list, topped by winger Danny Ward, who is out for at least six weeks after breaking a metatarsal.

Defender Joel Lynch (hamstring) and midfielders Adam Clayton (shin), Chris Atkinson (thigh) and Keith Southern (Achilles) are all doubts.

Lynch has missed the last three games, Clayton and Southern have problems in the wake of the Watford match and Atkinson’s injury came in training.

Former Leicester player Grayson is already without midfielder Neil Danns and striker Jermaine Beckford, who are both on loan from the Midlands club and prevented from playing under the terms of their moves until the end of the season.

Midfielder Oscar Gobern is back in full training after his ankle operation, but still needs to gain sharpness via a development match, with yesterday’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday called off because of snow.

Grayson, who hopes to train at the stadium tomorrow, named 20-year-old full-back Tom Smith in his 18 for Town’s 1-0 third-round win at Charlton.

Smith, and other members of Steve Eyre’s development squad, could feature against the Foxes, who have won five games on the spin.

“It will be a case of seeing where we are on Friday, and if I need to dip into the development or even academy teams, especially for the substitutes, then so be it,” said Grayson.

“It’s that time of the season when injuries are affecting a lot of clubs, so it’s just a case of getting on with it.”

Cheshire’s Anthony Taylor will referee Saturday’s tie.
