JORDAN RHODES has never once asked to leave Huddersfield Town.

Manager Simon Grayson revealed today the subject has never been brought up by the 22-year-old frontman, who is linking up this weekend with the full Scotland squad and will miss Monday’s Capital One Cup trip to Preston.

Asked if Rhodes – the subject of much transfer speculation – had ever expressed a desire to move on, Grayson answered: “No.”

He continued: “We have spoken many times over the summer and since pre-season started about what we expect him to do over the campaign and I have told him we will keep him informed of any updates in terms of offers etc, that’s only fair.

“I have also told him that we have no intention of selling him unless we get a very substantial bid.”   Blackburn and Fulham continue to be linked with interest in the 40-goal frontman, who could well play against Australia next midweek for a second full cap before rejoining Town to play in the Championship opener at Cardiff City a week tomorrow.

“I think we are in a very fortunate position because we are in control of the situation (with regard to Rhodes),” added Grayson. “It’s not as if we have to sell him or we are being dictated to by anyone above – the banks maybe saying ‘there is an asset, you have to sell him to balance the books’.

“We don’t have that with Dean Hoyle in charge of this football club.” So will there be any more signings following the arrival of Anthony Gerrard as a seventh new face of the close-season? “Possibly,” answered the manager. “We are still working hard behind the scenes on one or two deals because we want to keep competition for places strong, both in training every day and in matches.

“You might see one or two going out over the next few weeks, whether that’s on loan or permanent, and we are working hard on one or two other deals.”

Antony Kay took part in MK Dons official photocall today after training with the club this morning and was due to complete paperwork on a permanent move.
