DELIGHTED manager Peter Jackson today set Town a home rule six-point target.

Following Saturday's stunning 2-1 win at previously unbeaten leaders Luton, Jackson wants to take full advantage with Galpharm wins against Tranmere tomorrow (7.45) and MK Dons on Saturday.

It's a test for Town to establish a firm foothold in the play-off zone from their current seventh place, but it's one which Jackson believes his team can tackle on the back of five goals in the last four matches from the in-form Junior Mendes.

"It's important we put a winning run together and in these two home games to come it's vital we take the points," said Jackson, who expects to have a fully-fit squad.

"We know we will have to produce our best, but if we can make the Galpharm Stadium a fortress this season, as we've done in the past, then we will be right up there.

"Psychologically, the win on Saturday was crucial for us and it was a fantastic result. I could tell in the dressing room we were going to win and the lads didn't disappoint.

"They defended with their lives when they had to and, in the first half, I thought we could have had three or four goals from the real quality football we played.

"I was particularly delighted for all the fans who travelled down.

"They gave us magnificent backing, really vocal, and it was brilliant to give them a victory to cheer."

Mendes netted after 13 and 33 minutes for a Town side including Tony Carss and Efe Sodje, who replaced Nat Brown and David Mirfin, who lost his ever-present record.

It was Town's first win at Luton in 43 years and Jackson added: "It was probably our best result of the season and I'm extremely proud of the performance.

"I thought we needed Sodje's aerial power and he hardly gave Steve Howard a look-in, but the whole team did well and never let Luton get in behind us. It was great, and we've now got to take it forward into tomorrow."
