STAND-IN captain Efe Sodje has promised Town's fans the team will make up for Saturday's defeat.

The 30-year-old Nigerian international was honoured to get the armband just hours after making a 13-hour return flight from Japan.

Skipper Rob Edwards (hamstring) could be back against Doncaster today - manager Peter Jackson was also looking at further possible changes - and Sodje said:

"Everyone was disappointed about Saturday and we now need to win - especially for the fans.

"They have supported us and backed us all the way and they were upset by the York result, so it's time we gave them something to really cheer about.

"I loved being captain and leading out this famous club, but we have to make sure we use this defeat to spur ourselves on to better things and perform like we know we can."

Jackson had all 26 professionals in for training yesterday in a scheduled session - not as a punishment - and he said: "I'm interested in seeing how the lads bounce back, because we are now faced with a test of character.

"We've got honest people in the dressing room so I'm sure they will bounce back."
