Following on from the Good Samaritan story it was good to see yet another Town fan continuing to perform miracles of Biblical proportions.

Kevin Nicholas, Batley RLFC chairman and a life-long supporter of both the Gallant Youths and the Terriers, may well argue that it has been more of an ‘evolution’ than a ‘Wagnerian revolution’, but his years of dedication and hard-work appear to be finally coming to fruition.

There is clearly a lot to be said for having a devoted supporter as your chairman. Indeed, the role of all supporters should never be underestimated.

With the launch of the 2016-17 season card on Thursday it is vital that the Town faithful give their full backing to this great initiative from Town’s chairman, and supporter, Dean Hoyle.

The new look Batley Bulldogs are not just a result of good fortune and much effort. The club and their supporters have proudly adopted an open-minded and forward-thinking attitude in relation to minority groups.

Undoubtedly the courage of the ‘Cerise and Fawn’ captain, Keegan Hirst, has been instrumental in helping his team to achieve quite unprecedented success.

Not only this, but through his well-publicised story he appears to be bringing about a significant change to the rugby league mind-set.

A crowded Mount Pleasant, including Coronation Street celebrity Anthony Cotton, came within just one ‘drop-goal’ of seeing Sunday’s derby finish in a famous Bulldogs’ victory against big-city rivals Bradford Bulls.

Just imagine the potential of a John Smith’s Stadium with a similar open-arms attitude. To paraphrase the words of Sean Jarvis, think not “what is my club doing for me?”, but rather “what can I do for Huddersfield Town?”

Make sure that all your friends, colleagues, neighbours, relatives and teammates are aware of the massive saving that can be made with Town’s season-card deal.

Let’s really ramp up the noise next season.

From one derby to another, no doubt there will be a warm and very noisy welcome awaiting the Terriers when they visit Elland Road this Saturday.

In recent seasons our hosts, Leeds United, have tended to take the honours and a turn in the tide is now long overdue.

Remember to book your seats on the HTSA coach and play your part in collecting all three points.

The fares to Elland Road are: HTSA members £9 and non-members £11. The coach will be leaving from the John Smith’s Stadium at 12.45am. Dial 07905 580784 for a direct line to Rachael. HTSA members travelling on the coach will be in with a chance of winning £250 in the Travel Draw prize.
