FOOTBALL teams chosen by two of Kirklees' top sporting figures have battled it out in a charity match.

Teams chosen by Huddersfield Town manager Peter Jackson and Elland Cricket Club president Les Lawson played a match at Elland Cricket Club yesterday.

Fans flocked to the ground to witness the 11-a-side contest, with teams which included stars such as Yorkshire and former England Test cricketer Richard Blakey.

However, there was plenty of entertainment for those who were not watching the game, including stalls, raffles, an auction, games and a barbecue.

Visitors could even try their hand at paint-balling or scale a climbing wall.

Post-match entertainment was provided by singing sensation Kim Valentine.

The event was organised to raise cash for West Yorkshire Forget-Me-Not Trust, a charity which is raising money to build a children's hospice and respite centre for Kirklees and Calderdale.
