TOWN'S Danny Adams has been told he is free to find another club.

And that's left the door open for talented teenager Joe Skarz to make a full-back slot his own.

The 17-year-old Academy player will be in the line-up for today's crucial League I showdown with Cheltenham at the Galpharm.

That's after Adams, just turned 31, and manager Peter Jackson held talks over the left back's future.

"Danny is getting married this Summer and is keen to get himself sorted out," explained Jackson.

"He is out of contract this Summer and asked about the possibility of a new deal for next season.

"I told him that was something that cannot be guaranteed and we agreed to circulate his name.

"That way, he gets the chance to sort out a contract which takes in next season now, rather than leaving it until the Summer."

Depending on the speed of a move and Skarz's form and fitness, it could be that Adams has played his last game for Town, leaving his tally of appearances at 77 since joining in March 2005.

Before that he was at Stockport, having been given his senior break by Macclesfield after impressing for non-league Altrincham.

"Danny has been an excellent player, on and off the pitch, and this decision is in no way a reflection of his performances," added Jackson.

"Hopefully he'll get himself fixed up and continue an excellent career.

"As regards this club, I want to look to the long term, and having impressed when he stood in for Danny earlier in the season, I think the time is right to give Joe Skarz a longer run in the first team."

Skarz played four times while Adams was serving a suspension for his second sending off of the season, against Brighton in October.

He also appeared as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Doncaster on New Year's Day.
