EXPERIENCED Steve Yates is calling on all fans, players and staff to show the "team effort" which can turn Town's season around.

The 34-year-old defender is keen to unify every section of the club for the visit of Bournemouth to the Galpharm on Saturday.

Town's solid defender is aware it's a vital home fixture in which Peter Jackson's side are bidding to bounce back from defeat at Barnsley and improve on a run of six points from the last 24.

Critics have been out in force as Town have slipped to 14th in League I, but Yates says it's time for everyone to pull together and recreate the atmosphere of last season.

"It is up to the players to show the hunger and desire to keep on progressing, but it makes a hell of a difference when everyone is right behind you - especially at home," said Yates, back in contention for a start for the first time in 10 matches after playing as a substitute at Oakwell.

"There was a fantastic noise from the fans behind the goal at Barnsley in the second half and we could do with that from everyone here at the Galpharm this Saturday.

"I know the results have been frustrating of late, but if players are getting stick all the time it does knock their confidence and it isn't at all helpful to them or the club.

"This is a big team game, not just the 11 players but the whole place with everyone involved.

"It worked well for us last season and it can do again with everyone right behind the lads to help turn things around.

"As a team and a squad, the lads have got a great attitude, we will work our socks off on the training ground and, after winning something last year, it's great to have a realistic level of expectation to drive you on.

"If we can get our massive fan base noisily behind us it will give everyone a lift and we, as players, will give it all we've got to turn things around."

Town Reserves were in action today (2.00) as their Pontin's Holidays League Cup-tie against Rochdale at Rossendale United survived a pitch inspection.

Rob Edwards, Andy Booth and Lee Fowler were all being rested from the team.
