HUDDERSFIELD Town boss Lee Clark admits he’s having to be patient in his bid to make further signings.

The Galpharm boss is keen to add two more quality fresh faces to his squad after already importing eight during the summer.

Clark confirmed that strikers David Mooney (Reading) and Nathan Delfouneso (Aston Villa) are not among his targets – although he did enquire about the talented Delfouneso last season.

“There has not been too much progress since last week, so we’ve just got to be patient,” said Clark, who is monitoring centre-back Nathan Clarke (knee).

“Our work will continue in trying to improve the squad, but we can only let the fans know when we’ve got someone all signed up.”

Clarke suffered his injury in the early stages of the 3-1 friendly defeat at Barnsley, but the full effects have only been felt since the weekend.

“Nathan took a heavy whack in a challenge with one of the Barnsley players and the knee has stiffened up since then,” said the boss.

“We are just going to assess how he feels over the next 24 to 48 hours and take it from there.”

It seems unlikely Clarke will be involved in tomorrow’s in-house practice match which the manager views as an important part of Town’s build-up to the League I season.

The squad, of course, travel to Championship side Scunthorpe on Saturday for their final warm-up before the League I kick-off against Notts County at Meadow Lane on Saturday, August 7.
