HEYWOOD Irish Centre aim to make experience tell when they take on Liverpool club Sandstone in the FA Carlsberg Sunday Cup.
The Huddersfield Sunday League club reached the second round last season, their first campaign in the competition.
North-Easterners Stanley Royal were beaten before another Liverpool club, Canada FC, ended their interest.
Sunday’s first-round tie has been switched from Emley to Laund Hill, and kicks off at 2.00.
Sandstone won promotion to the top flight of the Liverpool Sunday League last season (when they also won two cups) and are currently second.
But Heywood Irish Centre secretary and manager Chris Helliwell said: “We’ve now got the measure of the competition.
“We have had a settled squad over the last few weeks, and we’re playing a good, expansive game.
“With the experience of last year, we are fully focused but well aware of the size of the task.”
Helliwell also praised the YMCA football section, who stepped in to stage the tie because of a clash of dates at Emley.
The match is being sponsored by MHS, Mico Lighting Limited and Decorative Concrete Ltd.
