CHARLIE AUSTIN is desperate for the chance to tackle Town tonight after enjoying a memorable full debut for Swindon at Carlisle on Saturday.

The 20-year-old frontman signed from non-league Poole Town two months ago struck just three minutes at Brunton Park, where Danny Wilson’s side won 1-0.

“It was a great experience,” he said. “Getting your full debut is brilliant, and scoring on it is even better.

“Being a striker you always think about when your first goal’s going to come, but for it to come so early in the game was a great bonus.

“Hopefully I will go on to have a successful career, but when I look back I will never forget that moment. If someone asks me when I scored my first goal, I will be able to tell them instantly – away to Carlisle and we won 1-0.

“The boys battled hard and we got a good result. All I can do now is hope I’ve impressed the manager enough to get another start against Huddersfield.”

Swindon’s seven-goal top scorer is former Bradford striker Billy Paynter, while Southend frontman Alex Revell is one of four players currently on loan at the County Ground.

Bolton’s Temitope Obadeyi and Celtic duo Simon Ferry and Ben Hutchinson are the others.
