KEVIN KILBANE has high hopes for Town this season after crowning his home debut with three points.

The 33-year-old midfielder – who also picked up his fourth booking of the season in the 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday – believes Lee Clark’s squad have the quality to push for the Championship.

Asked on Sky TV, who covered the game live, whether Town have what it takes to win promotion, Republic of Ireland international Kilbane answered: “Without a doubt.

“You only have to look at the quality of Anthony Pilkington’s goal, which was a magnificent finish, to recognise the ability we have here.

“We have got a lot of talent in this team, and I was talking to a couple of the Carlisle lads after our match up there and they were saying we are a big scalp in this league.

“Teams are out to beat us every week. They are trying to stop us, so we’ve got to stand up and be counted.”

The ex-Everton man’s passing earned him the nickname ‘Zinedine Kilbane’ on Sky.
