EIGHTEEN teams of four are booked in for Gerry Murphy’s Testimonial Golf Day at Outlane on Thursday.

Town manager Stan Ternent and strike legend Andy Booth are among those taking part in the event, which is sponsored by Fourway Construction through Mick Slicker, the ex-Huddersfield rugby league player.

The Giants have entered a team, as have the Professional Footballers’ Association.

The event has been organised by former Town director Brian Buckley, a member of the testimonial committee.

And it’s being supported by former Town board members Robert Whiteley and Geoff Headey, who have entered teams.

Among the excellent prizes on offer are a bike from Earnshaws Motorcycles, Huddersfield, for an ace at a nominated hole.

After-dinner entertainment is being provided by former Town commercial executives, Steve Kindon and Paul Fletcher, together with Huddersfield comedian Al Conway.

Murphy said: “I’m really over the moon by the fantastic response for the golf tournament and I want to thank club professional David Chapman and the Outlane people for their wonderful support.”
