STAN TERNENT surveyed Town’s goalless home draw with Yeovil and admitted: “Breaking teams down is our challenge.”

The Galpharm side enjoyed the vast majority of possession and chances but couldn’t beat in-form Yeovil goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The on-loan Portsmouth player made a string of saves, and Ternent, whose team remain 19th in League I, agreed: “He was in inspired form, and we didn’t get that rub of the green you need.”

The 10,719 crowd (130 away fans) was the lowest for a Galpharm league game this term, and meant at least 5,676 season-ticket holders were absent.

Many Town supporters made their frustration clear, but Ternent, who handed Keigan Parker only a second league start and reverted to 4-4-2 from 4-3-3, insisted there were positives to pick.

“We didn’t manage to get the win we wanted, but overall I was quite pleased,” he said.

“We kept a clean sheet, which is certainly a step in the right direction.

“And I don’t think it’s a coincidence that in every game we play, we create a lot of goalscoring chances.

“I thought Keigan Parker did well. He always tries hard, but as I’ve said, there have been a few personal issues for him.

“He seems to be okay now, which is good for both him and the club.

“Overall, I thought the lads stuck at it well without getting a break.

“Yeovil came for a point and got it, so it was job done for them. It was up to us to break them down, and we didn’t manage it.

“I changed the system to a 4-4-2 and I thought we did quite well in the first half. If we had got a goal, more would probably have followed.

“I felt we needed to lift the tempo a bit, and we did that in the second half without getting that bit of luck.

“We deserved to win, no doubt, but we have to learn to break teams down. That’s the challenge.”

Ternent had praise for Town fans, especially those who took the rare opportunity to sit in the Pink Link Stand, which is normally exclusively for away supporters.

“They were sensational, and to have our own fans behind that goal definitely created a better atmosphere,” he said.
