STAN TERNENT says he has full faith in Town goalkeeper Matt Glennon – but hasn’t confirmed his selection for tomorrow’s key League I clash with Yeovil.

The former St Johnstone stopper has failed to start only two games since being signed by Peter Jackson in the close-season of 2006 – at Leeds last season when he was suspended and at Darlington in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy earlier this month when Alex Smithies was given a run-out.

But he has been beaten nine times in two games after the 5-3 setback at Hartlepool was followed by Saturday’s 4-0 loss at Peterborough.

And over the season as a whole, 19th-placed Town have conceded 26 goals in 13 league games, the same as Carlisle and with only Cheltenham (36) and Saturday’s visitors Crewe (31) having higher tallies.

Smithies and fellow teenager Simon Eastwood remain Ternent’s only other options after he failed to lure experienced former Oldham and Everton stopper Paul Gerrard to the Galpharm after a spell on trial at the start of this season.

Glennon, 30, was handed a new two-year contract by Ternent soon after his arrival in April and the manager said: “Two of Peterborough’s goals went through his legs and I feel for Matty, but he has to pick himself up now.

“Everyone has a bad day now and again and it seems this was Matty’s. I’ll have a look at the situation and do what I feel is right for him.”

Meanwhile Ternent said he had his reasons for not selecting striker Keigan Parker but explained: “They can’t be put in the public domain.”

The 26-year-old former Blackpool man was the manager’s first signing for Town, but has started only three matches and come on as a substitute in seven more.

He was not in the matchday 16 at Peterborough, and Ternent said: “I don’t think Keigan has been playing well enough for a start, but there are other factors which I won’t go into.”
