DETERMINED forward Gary Taylor-Fletcher believes Town can use their battling display at Millwall as a launch-pad for a pre-Christmas climb up the League I table.

Peter Jackson's side, who held the Londoners goalless at The New Den last night, dropped two places to 16th as Bradford and Port Vale both won.

And a fifth booking of the campaign for Chris Brandon means he will be suspended when Town return to the capital on Saturday to take on basement side Leyton Orient.

But Taylor-Fletcher insists they should take inspiration from their showing South of the Thames, where there were 299 Town fans in a 6,251 crowd.

It was the fourth-bottom Lions' lowest league gate of the season, and the home faithful were frustrated when David Mirfin pulled off an agile 84th-minute goalline clearance to deny Darren Byfield.

"Mirf did really well all game, and I think we deserved the draw and maybe even a win," said Taylor-Fletcher.

"After such a disappointing display at home to Oldham (when Town lost 3-0) it was crucial that we bounced back, and this is certainly a point we can build on.

"Millwall are quite physical and athletic, but we have been working hard on our fitness and strength, and we matched them.

"The swirling wind made it difficult, but we stuck to our task, and I think the lads showed good spirit.

"Keeping a clean sheet is always a priority, and we're pleased to have done that, especially against two good forwards in Darren Byfield, who is quick, and Ben May, who has got good feet. Now we need to keep another clean sheet at Orient and sharpen up our act in front of goal."
