THORNTON & ROSS Ltd will sponsor Town’s new away kit next season.

The design of the strip won’t be revealed until the end of the month, but the club have confirmed their agreement with the Huddersfield- based largest independent pharmaceutical company in the UK.

Founded in 1922, Linthwaite-based Thornton & Ross, who employ more than 350, have a product portfolio encompassing a number of well-known brands, including Covonia, Crampex, Radian B, Mycota, Zoflora – described as the UK’s leading disinfectant. They also have a thriving export business.

One of the brand names will appear on the new shirt, the design of which will be unveiled to fans before the home game against Cheltenham on Saturday, March 21.

The family-owned business was founded by Nathan Thornton and Phillip Ross to make soft soap and pack household ammonia.

From small beginnings, the company expanded into areas including healthcare products and disinfectants.

Ralph Thornton and Vernon Ross, the sons of the founders, led the growth of the company from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The firm, continues to grow under the chairmanship of Jonathan Thornton, the third generation of the family to enter the business.

Town are running a competition for fans to guess the brand name chosen (it will be revealed on Friday week) with the five winners receiving a new away shirt when they released for sale in June.

Entries should be e-mailed to communications@htafc.com or sent to Communications Department, Huddersfield Town, Galpharm Stadium, HD1 6PX. Closing date is Thursday, March 12.

Town will also have a new home kit for next season, replacing the current centenary shirt.
