STRIKE legend Andy Booth spelled out Town's sheer determination today and declared: "We've got to go to Rotherham and win."

That is the 32-year-old's response to a run of just two points from nine as Town look for a first Millmoor win in 12 years on Boxing Day (12.30).

Peter Jackson's squad trained for the final time today ahead of the clash with Alan Knill's men, who have been rocked by a written transfer request from 13-goal leading scorer Deon Burton.

That has undermined confidence from their 2-1 win at Bradford - a first success in 18 matches - but Booth knows Town have to ignore what's happening in the Millmoor camp and make sure they're ready to bounce back to form themselves.

"We've had a blip, but you have to keep these things in perspective," said Booth, who will have a big battle with Northern Ireland international Colin Murdock.

"Even though we've not been at our best in the last few games, we are joint second in the table on points and, if we can have a good Christmas spell, we could be four or five points clear come the New Year.

"It's important, though, that we make a good start and get back on our best form down at Millmoor.

"We have had our disappointments in the last three games, so we now have to go down to Rotherham and win."

Booth, who scored on Town's last visit for a 1-1 draw in 1995, is confident Town can find the net and avoid three successive matches without a goal for the first time in 16 months.

He remains very frustrated by the 0-0 draw against Southend, when some fans booed Town off.

"I can understand that happening," said Booth. "They want to come down here and be entertained and we didn't do that last Saturday.

"It was a horrible game to play in, so I can imagine it was a dreadful game to watch.

"The fans were frustrated, we were frustrated and the lads just want everyone to get behind us because we have got a great chance this year and we are definitely heading in the right direction."

Booth accepted responsibility for a couple of missed chances and added:

"The result came about because of Southend's hard work and the fact that we didn't play anywhere near as well as we know we can.

"It's no use worrying about that now, though.

"We have to forget about those chances, forget it's two points from nine and make sure we get back on form against Rotherham.

"It would be great to kick-off the busy Christmas period with a win."

Town have Danny Adams back after a one-match suspension.
