OVER 70 supporters took part in yesterday’s Gerry Murphy testimonial golf day at Outlane.

Among them was new Town manager Stan Ternent, despite him needing to rush away to tie up his fourth signing of the summer!

Some of Murphy’s Academy products also played, including Jon Worthington, Nathan Clarke and Andy Booth.

The event was followed by a dinner at which Paul Fletcher and Steve Kindon provided the entertainment, along with local comedian Al Conway.

Next up in the testimonial year is a spectacular Gala Day to be held in conjunction with AFC Emley at the Welfare Ground on Sunday, July 20.

Town’s Academy will stage a mini soccer tournament from 11.00 to 3.00 and then the current Academy, nurtured of course by Murphy, will be involved in an intriguing 90-minute clash with former Academy players who have made it into Town’s first team.

Added spice will be provided by manager Stan Ternent’s close-season signings who have also pledged their support for what promises to be another big day for Murphy.

Helping create a family atmosphere will be a power-shooting competition, beat the goalkeeper, a bouncy castle and face painting.
