TOWN could find themselves up against Huddersfield history maker Reuben Noble-Lazarus in tonight’s reserve match at Barnsley (7.00).

The Newsome High School pupil from Crosland Moor recently became the youngest-ever player in the Football League.

He appeared as a substitute in Barnsley’s 3-0 Championship defeat at Ipswich aged 15 years, 45 days, beating the previous record by 113 days.

Barnsley had to get special permission from Newsome High head teacher Paul Gittins for Noble-Lazarus to make the trip.

He gave the go-ahead – as long as the Year 11 pupil, whose elder brother Kurtis is on the coaching staff at Barnsley, did his homework on the team bus!

Noble-Lazarus, who now spends three days a week at school and the other two at the football club, made his home debut from the bench in the 4-1 home win over Doncaster.

Amazingly, he only made his reserve debut for the Reds this season, and if he plays tonight, it will be only his third second-team outing.

Town go into tonight’s game as totesport.com Central League East Division leaders and will try to match the club’s best-ever start to a reserve season of five straight wins in 1961-62.

So far they have defeated Leeds, Scunthorpe, Hartlepool and Rotherham.

The squad includes centre-back Shane Killock, now back from a loan stint at Harrogate.

Squad: Smithies, Holdsworth, T Clarke, Unsworth, Williams, Jevons, Collins, Broadbent, Beckett, Parker, Denton, Codman, Killock, Eastwood plus two from academy.
