TOWN'S conveyor belt talented young players is far from ready to stop.

That's the message from coach Martyn Booty, who is now established in Peter Jackson's backroom team and working closely with Reserves' supremo John Dungworth.

Booty has watched the Reserves win four of their last five matches with the likes of John McCombe and Michael Collins to the fore, and he believes others will soon be pressing for senior recognition.

"All the young lads are spot on for attitude and, while John McCombe and Michael Collins have been outstanding, others like Matthew Young, Aaron Hardy and Luke Caulfield are now getting regular games and doing well," said Booty.

"John McCombe had a disappointing game over at Grimsby in September but, since that day, he has never looked back, he has been on the scoresheet a few times and I know he has impressed the gaffer.

"John did himself no harm at all in the two LDV games he played and if we did have a problem at centre-back, I don't think the gaffer would think twice about putting John in.

"The great thing with John is that you know exactly what you will get.

"He will win you headers, he will play the ball simply and, while he might work a bit on his pace if he can, that's not going to be a problem as such when playing in a three.

"John is a `seven out of 10' man week in and week out in the Reserves and he wouldn't be out of place at first-team level."

While the Juniors lost in the FA Youth Cup to Boston, Booty believes there's plenty more talent to come through and that they've got excellent role models.

"It's all a big learning curve for lads in their late teens and early 20s and I always tell them to make the most of the lessons," said Booty.

"You never stop learning, of course, and the young lads here have got some great examples to go to in people like Steve Yates and Rob Edwards, who are tremendous professionals with great attitudes who will give top advice."

Manager Jackson, meanwhile, has confirmed Town will leave next Saturday's blank date free ahead of the following Wednesday's trip to Swindon.
