TOWN are urging fans to support the Coca-Cola 'Buy a Player' promotion to keep the club at the top of the national 'league' table.

With the promotion less than a week old, fans from every single Football League and Scottish Premier League club have raised money towards their clubs' transfer fund for this summer.

And Town are top overall today, leading the way for League I on £131.50.

The surprise early pacesetters in the massive £10m giveaway were League I high-fliers Yeovil Town, but they have slipped to fourth on £111.50.

Championship Leeds United are second on £122.50 with Cardiff City third (£118) and Yeovil fourth. MK Dons are in fifth position on £105.50.

With one in two packs guaranteed to feature a monetary prize for clubs, the transfer funds are rising every day on www.coca-cola.co.uk/football.

To enter, fans from all FL and SPL simply need to purchase a promotional bottle or multipack of Coca-Cola or Coke Zero and text in the unique code found to 80094 or enter it at the same web address. Upon entering, fans will find out instantly if they are winners of money for their club.

Prizes range from 50p all the way up to £100,000 and winners of the £100,000 prizes will also win a personal cash prize of £10,000. Everyone entering the promotion until February 7 will also be automatically entered into a separate draw for £250,000.

The winner will be announced live on Soccer AM on Saturday, February 10.

Town spokesman Alisdair Straughan said Town wanted to be among the front-runners.

"We hope as many of our fans as possible will take part because that will mean more money for the club and the chance to win big at the end of it all," he said.

Steve Cumming, sponsorship manager of Coca-Cola Great Britain, said: "This is a fantastic response from the fans and shows just how well the promotion has gone down so far. But remember it's a marathon rather than a sprint, and the clubs need the support of their fans."
