FORMER Town star Danny Schofield has completed the paperwork on his move to League I rivals Yeovil and begun pre-season training with the Somerset club.

The 28-year-old midfielder was Town’s longest-serving player, having signed from non-league Brodsworth in 1998.

Knowing he was out of contract at the end of last season, Schofield asked for a move back in February.

“After so long at Huddersfield, I felt it was time for a change, and when I spoke to (manager) Russell Slade, he soon convinced me it was the place to come,” he said.

Schofield, who has signed a two-year contract, was a long-term target of Slade, who made a £50,000 bid a year ago.

“This ends the search to replace Arron Davies as Danny is extremely versatile as he can play on the left and right wing and down the middle,” said Slade.

“He can get a goal as well so we are delighted that he is coming down here.”

Schofield scored 46 times in 289 Town appearances
