JAMES BERRETT is set to join Town’s League I rivals Carlisle United on a two-year deal.
The versatile Republic of Ireland Under 21 midfielder is believed to have held successful talks with the Cumbrian club, who host Town in the first round of the Carling Cup on Tuesday, August 10.
Berrett, whose signing is expected to be announced this afternoon, was one of eight contracted players made available for transfer by manager Lee Clark in May.
The Golcar-based 21-year-old, who was also being tracked by Tranmere Rovers, has made 41 Town appearances, scoring two goals.
