BIG John McCombe may be the next teenage product to push for regular first-team action with Town.

That's the view of his manager Peter Jackson, who included the 19-year-old central defender in the starting line-up at Harrogate Town today (3.00).

McCombe has made just one fleeting League appearance as a substitute (against Oldham the season before last) but that could change soon.

"John has come back really strong and fit and he's at the front in all the running we do," said Jackson, who watched McCombe score in the friendly at Ossett earlier this week.

"I like his attitude a lot because he will plough through tackles with genuine aggression and he'll stick his head in for the club where most people wouldn't even put a boot.

"I'm certainly expecting big things of him over this next 12 months.

"His initial target must be to get some regular matches in the Reserves after the injuries he suffered last season.

"Then it's a matter of pushing himself forward for first-team recognition, and he's certainly got a chance of doing that if he continues to work hard."
