TOWN’S two triallst defenders will have put down markers with boss Lee Clark after their performances in the 3-1 reserve team win over Grimsby Town.

Northern Irish central defender Mark McChrystal looked assured in his second outing in the league, while Watford left back Mat Sadler (pictured) impressed both at the back and coming forward.

While MacChrystal is a free agent following his release from Derry, Town may have to look at a loan deal if they are to persist in their interest in Sadler, who has been training with Town this week.

“We are looking at Mat with a view to a possible loan move,” said Town boss Lee Clark of Sadler, who signed for the Hornets for £750,000 from Birmingham City in January 2008.

“He did very well in his time at Birmingham and I’m not sure why things haven’t quite worked for him at Watford of late, but the trial gave us the ideal chance to have a look at him.”
